I am in no way qualified to comment on mass psychology but
I believe there are studies that say that people tend
to believe whatever they first hear.  Subsequent
messages, whether or not they confirm or deny the
initial impression, only tend to reinforce existing
belief.  (Hence the success of mass propaganda.)  This means the
important thing is to get the message to the masses
quickly.  Facts won't necessarily do the trick.

It may already be too late to influence the the skeptical moms.
