Querida Ana,

Lo siento que haya tomado unos días para responder.

No hay duda de que el contexto es muy importante para crear traducciones buenas.

Animamos a los traductores para trabajar con la actividad azucarera
antes de traducir lo que han visto las cuerdas (en Inglés) y cómo se
utilizan realmente antes de empezar a traducir.

No es necesario tener una computadora portátil XO para utilizar el
azúcar, que puede ejecutarse en casi cualquier ordenador en casi
cualquier sistema operativo utilizando uno de los varios métodos que
aparecen en esta página.

La parte importante de la traducción no debe ser fiel a las palabras
usadas originalmente por los desarrolladores, sino para ser fiel al
significado que se debe comunicar al usuario.

Sería maravilloso si fuera posible hacer clic en cualquier cadena en
cualquier actividad que estaba funcionando y lo traduce en ese mismo
momento, pero los medios técnicos para lograr esto y conseguir que la
traducción al servidor de traducción en el que se puede compartir con
los demás no existen todavía.

I'm sorry it has taken a few days to reply.

There is no question that context is very important for making good
translations.

We do encourage translators to work with the Sugar Activity before
translating so that they have seen the strings (in English) and how
they are actually used before they start translating.

It is not necessary to have an XO laptop to use Sugar, it can be run
on nearly any computer in nearly any oeprating system using one of the
various methods listed on this page.

The important part of translating is not to be faithful to the words
originally used by the developer, but to be faithful to the meaning
that must be communicated to the user.

It would be wonderful if it were possible to click on any string in
any activity while it was running and translate it right then and
there, but the technical means of accomplishing this and getting that
translation up to the translation server where it can be shared with
others do not exist yet.
