Hi Folks…

Well we missed it! International Scratch Day was last Saturday, May 19. There were 3 events in the SoCal area at Magnolia Science Academy-8 in Bell, Welby Way Elementary School in West Hills, and Stephen S. Wise Elementary School in Bel Air. Maybe olpc-SoCal can sponsor (or co-sponsor?) a larger Scratch event at some central location next May.

If you aren't familiar with Scratch, you should get to know it! It is a fun introduction to programming that is supposed to be for the "next generation," but older people can have fun with it too. MIT is soon releasing its new Scratch 2.0 which is web-based and used in your browser. It is sort of a cross between games, programming and FaceBook. If you aren't familiar with Scratch, or would like to get an update on what's new, here is some info:

Have fun with these!
