Hey, for those looking to try the XO w/ Sugar GUI without having
access to an actual XO machine (MJ, try this), here's how to emulate
it on your PC using Sun's Virtual Box

1st, download Virtualbox from here and then install it:
http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

Next, download the latest XO build LiveCD ISO of from any of these 2 locations:
ftp://rohrmoser-engineering.de/pub/XO-LiveCD/
http://www.skolelinux.de/XO-LiveCD/ (mirror)

So that would be this one:
http://www.skolelinux.de/XO-LiveCD/XO-LiveCD_080919.iso
(Sept.19 build)

Next, either burn that ISO image to CD or run it in a CDRom virtual
drive like Daemon Tools.
Download Daemon tools from here:
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php
download Daemon Tools Lite, and during installation options, DO NOT
install the Daemon Tools Toolbar.

Build a new Virtualbox virtual machine according to the specs here:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/VirtualBox
and set either your burned CD or virtual cdrom drive with the ISO
mounted as the mounted CD of the new virtual machine.

Run your new XO-1 virtual machine!

This will give you an experience of what it's like to use the XO GUI +
its Activities (Apps).

Of course this will not replace hands-on with an XO, especially in
terms of app development because it's hard to emulate the XO's CPU
speed in a virtual machine.

Hope to have helped!
