Hi Tim,

Glad to finally meet our illustrious leader! For a while I was beginning to wonder if you and Rowen had been abducted by aliens.

When you have time to update us on the current developments on OLPC it will be helpful to ask each member to volunteer a particular task he would want to do as his contribution to the group. Even if that would be just updating the Wiki to make sure we are able to provide sufficient information for everybody interested in OLPC Philippines. We have to provide sufficient information on what we have achieved so far, who we are working with to achieve this with and what more we have to do to finally reach the end goal of making every child in the Philippines have a laptop to use.

Please share with us too the achievement you got in winning in the web competition you mentioned. We need to give each one of us the emotional support to sustain us in our work here.

  Thanks.

  Charles

  Dear Friends,

It has been a long time since you heard my voice. We (Rowen and I) have been to busy for other important things. I have join a web development competition this last December 4 and I won the first price - God was so gracefull to bless me. Please pardon me for not doing my part for almost a month. Ok, so much for that.

Last october and november we talk to Mr. Graham and Mel Chua. We talk for many good things for the project and we decided to have another jam this coming april 2008. Another thing, I'm working for a distributed sugar ubuntu version to distribute to all who want to test sugar without the xo machine. The os is plug and play (if you will put it in usb flash drive) without any configuration - i mean you don't need to hack it to make it work - it will help teachers and other people who are not technically inclined. I will uptade everyone much sooner. I just need to organize so many information. Thanks for helping the project. This is for our future... let us do it for our future sons and dauthers.

  Welcome to the group!

I don't whether you have been to our Wiki page (please see below) to give you an idea of the range of existing activities being done on the Philippines.

I suggest you consider first what you what is it you want to do. When you have identified what that is, it would be ideal to disclose this information by making a mailing list submission when you get the next email.

For the benefit of everybody, may I ask your background and what attracted you to OLPC?

Tim who is the lead organiser for OLPC I assume is based in the Philippines judging from his contact number. As you know already I'm based in Sydney, Australia.

I just realised Greg Moreno also recently joined the group too and is interested to help. I think he shared why he joined OLPC but I am unable to remember what's his background if you go to his web blog. I would suggest to him also to think what would he wants to do and disclose the same information to the group in the same way.

  Thanks.

  Charles
