Well, if you've managed to patch Sugar like that, putting an xrandr
command in the right place is only a matter of finding the right place.

On an XO using Sugar 0.84, /usr/bin/sugar is one such place, and reading
that shows it checks for ~/.sugar/debug and executes it.

So you *might* be able to solve your problem by adding the xrandr line
to a file ~/.sugar/debug.  Not something I can easily test though at the
moment.
