Hopefully someone else can confirm, Sarah and her team by testing directly, confirmed by others familiar with how keyboard mapping works?

Are these XO-4 laptop variants with touch screen hardware support? If so the Maliit based onscreen keyboard [1] supports Arabic out of the box. You would just need to make sure Arabic is chosen as at least one of the languages in the Language Control Panel; restart Sugar; and trigger the on screen touch keyboard (usually by folding the laptop into tablet mode). I’ve been out of the loop on the Write Activity development for a long time so I can’t remember if there were specific issues with it regarding Arabic, apologies.

Arabic Stickers may have been applied to each key, if I recall Sarah's earlier description.

I found out that I am using 13.2.2 OS on my XO4, in case some of you were wondering. I checked out http://translate.sugarlabs.org/ar/ as some of you suggested, and it seems like the Write Activity is almost completely translated into Arabic, which is great news. I have also tried the same instructions that I included in my original email to try to change the language in the Terminal, and I have had to reflash the laptop three more times since then. I have also tried using the toggle feature so that the computer can theoretically switch between English and Arabic, but I haven't had any luck with that either (I will try that one again, though, because I could have messed up the typing in the Terminal).
