This is bad.  Something went wrong while writing to the chip that
contains the firmware.

(If anybody else gets this error during flashing and your laptop is 
still on, don't turn it off, leave it powered on while you try to
contact us for help.)

That it doesn't boot the firmware any longer is consistent with the
error above.  That laptop will need a repair;
