 Paul, thanks, didn't know that.

 Samuel, yes, but that doesn't answer my question. To me the charging bit
 means the EC is managing a charge sequence for the battery, and the
 cooling bit means the charging sequence is in a zero current mode until
 the temperature falls.

 So is it that you want the charging status bit (or the display of it) to
 be consistent with Linux?  Why?

 The convention is that an orange indicator means the charging sequence has
 not finished, and if the user wants to maximise the stored charge they
 should leave the external DC connected. That it flashes on our design is
 additional information about the sequence.
