 fyi, the linux driver can only present one state at a time.  if the
 charging or trickle bits are set, the state is "charging" -- other bits
 are ignored.  so under linux, we'll only see the "cooling" (or, in current
 builds, "not charging") state if the cooling bit is set without the
 charging bit.
