 It might be worth leaving a system running for an extended period with
 systemd debugging enabled - maybe we get lucky after a long time.

 More ideas:

 Change the reboot call to "reboot &>/dev/kmsg" just in case it logs any
 error immediately.

 At the point of hang, fire SysRq-T over serial to grab task state. sysrq
 should already be enabled.

 add another kmsg logging line after the reboot call, to see if reboot
 exits (and with what exit code)?
