the time-to-blank timer extending out into the future, but not affect the
 time-to-dim one?

If I'm no mistaken there are no notifications triggered by incoming wlan
activity e.g invitation messages, so there is no reason for the screen not
to blank if there is no user activity, ie away, focusing on something
 else.

Another thing to consider is that most APs will transmit multicast
packages frequent enough to keep the XO awake regardless of activity
 sharing.
Is there a way to detect activity sharing and allow wake on multicast
 packets only in this case?
