 i agree that it would be possible, and okay, to dim, but never blank, the
 screen, in the presence of continuing wlan wakeups.

 AP's don't send multicast traffic.  they send messages of a different type
 entirely, which we don't notice.  as for multicast, we already only
 configure wake-on-multicast if telepathy is running.  i don't know if it's
 possible to know easily whether anything is actually shared.
