 As stated, the problem occurs in both OFW and the OS.

 Here's what's on the problematic XOs:
  * firmware - Q3B19
  * OS - 10.1.3-au3 (build au869)
  * kernel - kernel-2.6.31_xo1.5-20101216.1243.1.olpc.741a3e67d9e7bb8.i586
  * olpc-utils - olpc-utils-1.0.31.3.g1f66f69-1.fc11.i386

 Our OS is lightly modified from OLPC OS 10.1.3. I don't think there are
 any changes that would affect the mouse cursor. That the problem also
 manifests in OFW seems to indicate that this is not an OS problem.
