Comment(by dsd):

 I'd argue that the main purpose of this protocol is for antitheft and OS
 updates. The antitheft part needs the SN, you shouldn't make it any
 harder. (The protocol is actually called "theft deterrence protocol")

 Power and activity usage should be separate, IMO. and the whole thing is
 rather questionable to begin with in my opinion.
