Comment:

 This is both a bug and a feature.

 The feature is that when the mesh is not in use, we power down the WiFi
 chip and lid-close suspends can last for up to two days.

 The bug is that Sugar doesn't provide an obvious way to TURN OFF the mesh;
 the only reliable way to do so is to successfully connect to an access
 point.  If there's no access point handy, you can't turn off the mesh, so
 you can't power down the WiFi on suspend, so your battery dies in mere
 hours.  That's bug #6995 (read all the comments for the details).
