 I'm confused.  Is it USB (as mentioned in the first line) or SD (as
 indicated in the Boot device: message ?  Or are you saying that both have
 problems?

 How do you know that OFW is locking up, as opposed to the kernel wedging
 before it displays any messages?

 Are you using a ramdisk?

 To debug this problem, I'll need a copy of your kernel binary and your
 /boot/olpc.fth file.  If you are using a ramdisk, I'll need a copy of that
 too. wmb at firmworks.com .
