> I too have seen (rarely) the backlight switching off in 2301 when it
should not have. This seems to occur after I've manually dimmed the
screen overnight with the "less illumination" key, then brightened it in
the morning with the "more illumination" key. The unexpected switching
off happens not long afterwards.
Thank you, mikus, that is a good clue! I '''made the bug come back''' by
dimming the backlight before going to bed. In the morning, the bug was
happening. An interesting new observation is that pulling out or plugging
in the power adapter plug will make the backlight switch off.
I still do not have a simple tested recipe for reproducing the bug, but
assume it requires dimming the backlight then leaving the XO alone for a
while. And we still want to discover an easy work-around, which I am sure
exists because the bug went away for a week.
