 I have not seen this bug for awhile, but re-reading my original
 description reminds me: "With '''no options checked in Power screen''' of
 sugar control panel, the screen backlight switches off within a minute".

 I have been running with Advanced Power Management checkmarked.  I will
 now uncheck that...
