 I too have seen (rarely) the backlight switching off in 2301 when it
 should not have.  This seems to occur after I've manually dimmed the
 screen overnight with the "less illumination" key, then brightened it in
 the morning with the "more illumination" key.  The unexpected switching
 off happens not long afterwards.  This is *not* the screensaver --
 pressing a character key on the keyboard has no effect on the switched-off
 backlight -- I have to press the "more illumination" key to brighten the
 backlight.

 [BTW - the reason I pressed the "less illumination" key the evening before
 was that the XO was sitting unused for half an hour without the
 screensaver kicking in.  I leave my XO powered on all the time.]
