I've had a chance to look at machines with this same problem in the past
and the the issue has been an incorrect mask setting for the EC SCI mask.
Sugar's battery monitor is event driven. The EC has 1% ticks that it
sends up via an SCI. During suspend these events are masked. If they are
not unmasked properly then the battery status will not update. The 14%
low jump is due to the battery empty SCI which causes the system to
update.
I've seen that when the mask is incorrect that a suspend/resume cycle will
generally fix it because the mask is updated in a suspend/resume cycle
When you saw the bug do you know if your machine had autosuspend enabled?
Or or put it into suspend by closeing the lid or pressing the power
button?
cjb: We should get deepak to add a read mask sysvar so that the mask can
be checked via userspace.
