 but do we have a plan to improve ohm's heuristics, and/or its source(s) of
 data?  feels like we'll be playing whack-a-mole for a long time if we keep
 just adding hints.

 (i'm surprised NAND-based i/o doesn't generate enough CPU activity to keep
 us alive, but maybe i shouldn't be.)
