Comment:

 I don't think that appears-as-list is any good idea. What we want is to
 place the menu consistently underneath the toolbar. I would expect that a
 treeview has is too different in some ways. Also, I expect that this
 should stay one control instead of being an entry+button in the end.

 Moving over to sugar, as I don't think we can do anything from the theme.
