Comment (by jg):

Yup. We're certainly going to make it possible to use whichever flash
player is needed over the next few weeks. In the meanwhile, you can take
a flash 9 plugin for Firefox and drop it in the proper plug in directory
(where you'll find the gnash plug in) and it should work fine. Let us
 know if it doesn't.

joaoboscoapf, remember that Rob is one of the principle authors of Gnash,
and I'd be surprised if someone in that position *didn't* feel strongly
 about their project.

Competition is healthy. We're trying to level the playing field by seeing
if we can get Adobe to at least open the Flash spec. For Rob and others
to have to reverse engineer flash is a terrible waste of time.

BTW, joaoboscoapf, I hope you are running build 303 or later: while not
fully resolved yet, many of our web display problems are much improved.
These are mostly caused by having such a high resolution screen; no other
display on the planet has been at 200DPI.

 codecs?''

 > ''A: We think that kids around the world should be able to have full-
fidelity access to all of the Web sites around the world. The reality
today is that many Web sites make heavy use of non-open source technology
like Flash and Windows Media. Our view is that since the '''OLPC is about
kids and education, not open source dogma''', we think that, at least for
the time being, it makes sense to include non-open source components when
there is no full-fidelity open source alternative.''

 > With all the respect for the volunteers working on FOSS projects, that's
also my opinion and I think that being so extreme can make OLPC project to
 fail.
