 Ivan's point is that applying power to the imager will turn on an LED
 (it's going to be in series with the imager, to guarantee that if the LED
 is on, the user *knows* the imager is on), and someone might think they
 are being spied on.

 Mine is, despite this, it is desirable enough a capability that at the
 user's option, they may want to have an application that does this anyway.
 But the privacy concern is certainly such it has to be optional, rather
 than "just there and operating".

 Short of a photodiode (like those you often find on many laptops, like the
 one I type this on, but don't have in our design) we have no way to do
 this short of powering up the imager and doing something with some data.
