 So activities cannot reliably query sugar if they are active or not?  And,
 therefore, listeners to notify::active are not reliable either?

 This is going to be a persistent problem for activity authors, especially
 those that use resources with only one port (e.g., xv).

 I strongly recommend that sugar solve this problem.

 A suboptimal workaround for Record, hopefully for Update.1, is
 forthcoming.  It will leave children wondering if their activity is
 working or not while we query xv's availability repeatedly.  Hopefully
 they won't have to wait to long.
