Comment:

I'm encountering this problem using build 659 (on the laptop) and build
137 on the schoolserver (patched to also use WLAN firmware 20.p47). These
tests were conducted in a "quiet" WiFi environment (only one other access
 point seen by the laptops).

The laptop associates fine, but then typing an innocuous command like "yum
install emacs" causes the wireless connection to be dropped when trying to
download a 6.9M rpm. On another laptop, fetching a 10MB file using wget
 stops after around 4MB.

Pings of the school server fail after this time (Destination host
unreachable), even though iwconfig and ifconfig show the expected setup.
The problem does not go away after rebooting the laptop --- the school
server must also be rebooted (or the active antennas unplugged and plugged
 back in).

 This is very repeatable.

Killing NetworkManager on the laptop (and manually configuring it) has no
 effect on this problem.
