Comment:

 I really don't think that's a problem.  If they saw that it was there,
 they'll know it exists.  It should be relatively easy to find, since
 corners are easy to hit when exploring the screen for the first time.
 Also, this is another case where the "if 1 in 40 kids finds it..."
 argument can certainly apply.  Once they know where it is, it's always
 easy to get to.

 The problem with keeping it visible at Home all the time is that it seems
 to imply that it's ''only'' available at Home, which is more of a concern
 to me than finding it in the first place.

 I suppose another option is to keep it visible after boot until either:

  - the mouse enters and then leaves the frame
  - the Home view is left

 Yet another option is to keep it visible until the mouse moves, which
 might subtly imply that the moving the mouse hid it, and thus that moving
 the mouse correctly can reveal it again.
