Note that in most cases a serial adapter is not required.  Follow the
diagnosis steps on http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Fix_Clock first.  If the
laptops were shipped in the past year, they really should not require
the serial adapter method; because the affected firmware version was not
being used in the factory.
