Bryan ji,

I did a quick search for what other kind of caching proxy could be used 
on a small footprint machine. For scenarios where squid may be overkill, 
there is tinyproxy. http://tinyproxy.sourceforge.net/ It seems to be 
inactive since 2004, but might be worth looking into. I'll give it a 
shot maybe later this week.
