If OpenVPN is what's needed :-)

The project Samy is proposing is about using and/or aggregating blogs
over an encrypted connection. HTTPS is the protocol for this, and
requires minimal work.

Getting the participating nodes - from different institutions,
networks etc - on a VPN of any kind is overkill.
