I had these bits on schoolserver.laptop.org, and Ivan pulled a copy
and improved them, I think.  schoolserver has since been reinstalled,
but I think my original copies are on old-schoolserver if I need to
dust them off.  It wouldn't be hard to rewrite them.

Woodhouse sent me a pointer to his git repo, but I suspect what we
really want is the packaged-rpm version.  If that's not already in
redhat upstream, dwmw2 can probably get it there.

although I really need to implement a build garbage-collector if it's
going to run on an unattended schoolserver.  mstone was going to write
one for me, but I don't think he ever got around to it.
