[Rwanda-learningteam] Hiring Interns from KIE

   Hi Julia,

I would like to suggest that before going ahead contracting the Interns, it would be important to go to KIE and discuss our intentions with Dr. Mathias.

This is important so KIE can see this as a partnership and a direct result of the initiatives we did in 2009. It is also important to discuss what is going to be required from these students in terms of time and check if our needs are compatible with their availability.

The kind of work we did in the past was possible because all of them were free of classes for the community attachment and the vacations period. It is likely that all of them are engaged in their academics activities right now and might be necessary to make sure all schedules are possible even before we start the project.

We need to put some thinking and planing in this program that in my point of view is something very important to our goals in Rwanda. I known you guys should be overloaded with so many activities at schools right now, however we must pay attention to don't sacrifice the broader objectives of this initiative to solve our immediate needs.

We need to think what are going to be the model of the program so people don't see it as a one time hiring, but as a part of a larger capacity building initiative. If people see that this program is a continuity of the volunteers program, we will assure more volunteers both in community attachment and in the volunteers program.

Well, these are my 2 cents ideas.

     Abraços,

     Juliano
