Comment(by sunrise1):

 Earlier than about a week ago (perhaps with 1611, definitely with builds
 previous to that) the screen on my XO did NOT exhibit "dim and brighten"
 cycling.

 Lately, though, I am experiencing "dim and brighten" on my G1G1 --
 including today with build 1628 [http://www.tagnice.com nike air yeezy
 shoes](which has some newer 'yum updates' applied). My OFW is now at the
 Q2D12 level.

 [By the way, one night I erased /etc/ohm/inhibit-suspend, and left the XO
 just sitting there. The XO soon suspended (power light started blinking)
 and the screen went to dim. When I came back the next morning, the screen
 was STILL on dim. I would have thought -- if the XO was going to save
 power by turning off the CPU, it ought to have *also* saved power by
 turning the backlight completely off.]
