Hi Folks...
This message is really for Joe Herman. It is info he asked for, but everytime I try to send it to his email address, it bounces back!. If anyone on the list knows Joe, could you forward it on to him (he is on the list) or have him send me a different email address that will work.
Thanks!Caryl

Hi Joe,
I tried to send this yesterday, but it bounced back. Maybe it was because I used my hotmail address. So... let's try this one...

Hi Joe!
Yes, I remember you from SCaLE and how graciously you stepped in to "baby-sit" the little boy whose father just dropped him off and told him not to get into trouble. Thanks so much for your help! If you would like to be a booth volunteer for us next year, we can work to get you up-to-speed on all things OLPC and Sugar. Starting with learning how to update the XOs and make USB sticks to do it is a good place to begin.
First, we will need to find out which build they gave you that you like so much. So, it's time to learn how to find out. Turn on your XO. When it finishes booting, hold down the left-click button (it has an X on it) and hover your cursor over the little XO person in the center until the pull-down menu appears. Click on "My Settings."A black window with white icons will open. You will want to explore and get familiar with all of the icons, but for now, go to the one with a little picture of a computer, "About My Computer," and click on it. It will open a window with all sorts of good information. What you want right now is the part that says, "Software". Copy what it says and send that information to me so I can find the place for you to download the build you want.
Then click on the check mark in the upper right corner to get back to the black screen where you can explore other things, including the Gnome desktop (click on the footprint icon).
When I hear from you, I'll find the build you want and sent it with instructions for putting it on USB stick and installing it in an XO. It is easy and fun (most of the time).
Have fun!Caryl
