Hi Hamilton,

I hope you will join the OLPC program as a volunteer member. As to what this will involve we don't have a formal list of requirements but suffice it to say it will involve doing unpaid work to assist in the rolling out of the OLPC program in the country. Maybe this should be one of the things we should take up in the get together.

You knowledge, skills and experience on using sugar will be much appreciated by the group as the initial deployment model will be using sugar.

Thanks.

Charles

Hello Charles,

No not quite new :-)
I was able to attend the first meeting that Jerome put together.

I am a software engineer based in the Philippines. I currently work with
Solutiongrove, a web development and IT consulting firm, based in
Winchester Massachussets.

If you monitor the sugar-devel and server-devel lists at
lists.laptop.org, you probably know Solutiongrove from SoaS (Sugar on a
Stick).

I have helped with testing SoaS and wrote modifications to some of the
python scripts (that will hopefully get accepted into the release
builds) that

- allow an SoaS stick to register with a Schoolserver
- enable an SoaS stick to backup/restore activities with Moodle on the
Schoolserver

Testing SoaS with a Schoolserver is ongoing but I have not had much time
due to other projects.

I'm interested in deploying SoaS because I think

?- allows us to reuse existing hardware
- depending on certain conditions deployment could be cheaper and
easier compared with deploying OLPC laptops
- allows kids to experience what the interface looks and feels like
without owning a laptop and on any PC whose hardware is supported.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Best,

Hamilton

Nope he's part of Solution Grove who is primarily responsible for
delivering SoaS (Sugar on a Stick).
