Hi Harry,
Thanks for giving us the heads up on this. I looked into this, and here is
the link: http://www.valenzuela.gov.ph/press.php?id=200900528&tbl=press. The
City Government of Valenzuela distributed more than 600,000 free notebooks
to 100,000 public elementary and high school students. However, the notebook
are referring to books, not laptops.
Regardless, it would be great to partner with an organization/institution
[such as VC Global Program] that can help eKindling initiate a small-medium
deployment in the Valenzuela municipality. If you know of anyone or
organization that is immersed in that community, please feel free to connect
us to them. This goes for all other regions as well.
*eKindling Update*: Please bare with us as we continue to tackle low hanging
fruits dealing with our infrastructure. We are also currently in talks with
several institutions including SagipBata (Gawad Kalinga and SFC initiative),
MILK Foundation (Bulacaan), and Asia Pacific College in regards to formal
partnerships. We will make sure to update you all as soon as possible. For
more information on our organization, team, and "what's on our plate,"
please refer to http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Project/ekindling.
Thank you and we are eager to work with you all,
Ryan Letada
