Ed, Dr. Swapan Garain,
I think the idea of a holistic village is a guiding force in the
repurposing of humanity towards a more sustainable trajectory of existence.
The reason for this is that the community is the basic building block
for human societies.
So my view is that the foundation for building sustainable societies
should not be technology or policymaking focused among either
policymaking, inventing or celebrity elites but rather among those of us
who actually want to live sustainably in community.
What's needed is a clear vision of sustainability that attempts to link
technologies in a appropriate and holistic way to empower communities in
this direction. The goal is not to provide turn key solutions to
communities but to develop test beds around the world that can train
people on how to think in more holistic ways of finding solutions to
complex and challenging issues that often have both local and global
implications.
Dr. Garain let us know how we can assist you in your efforts.
