Forwarding this message from the support gang mailing list as it gives the
background on why we need img and crc files for updating the XO builds.

I agree.

It can be confusing. Here's some background information. We have lots
of different ways to install ...

0. the XO-1 signed method requires .img and fs.zip files, and you hold
down the four game pad buttons, but this only works for signed builds,

1. the XO-1 development method requires .img and .crc files, and you
use the copy-nand command,

2. the XO-1 alternate development method used by partitioned
development images requires .dat and .img files, and you use the
update-nand command,

3. the XO-1.5 signed method requires .zd and fs.zip files, and you hold
down the four game pad buttons, ... notice how this is the same as for XO-1
... quite intentional; we don't want to increase the training burden for
the deployment teams,

4. the XO-1.5 development method requires .zd file alone, and you use
the fs-update command.

So, if you're used to #0 and you are trying #1 for the first time, you
end up having to disable security and get an extra .crc file.
