Hello
Multicast nand update work just great. I've been using it since
yesterday to perform various tests.
What you can do:
- prepare your master XO (obviously !)
- reboot and push esc key
- run "nb-clone" on the master and see which channel it picks (ex:6)
- run "nb6" on each target XO
Maybe a custom olpc.fth script performing both the firmware update and
going into nb6 could be prepared on a USB key : this way you would
just have to plug the key into each target laptop, one by one (until
they have booted and are starting to receive- no need to wait as soon
as it has booted) instead of doing manual manipulations
But just a quick suggestion : make sure the master you use does not
contain hardcoded informations by mistake (ex: if you removed some
links, added ssh keys etc) -it will just copy them verbatim on each
other XO
Happened to me with network addresses. so I suggest you test with some
laptops first :-)
Something I don't know yet (I may test that in the next days), is how
security will play with all that : I mean, if the master image you are
nandblasting is based on a signed image but has been modified, it may
be considered unsigned and refuse to boot. In this case, you would
have to add developer key retrival/security disable to your usb key
olpc.fth until your Malgasian has been signed.
