John Watlington (Hardware-Chefingeneur bei OLPC) hat gerade einen interessanten Beitrag zur Tastatur des XO-Laptops geschickt (siehe unten).

Die Materialstärke der Gummitastatur wurde mehrfach verändert, um das Optimum zwischen einfachem Tippen und Robustheit zu finden. Derzeit werden nochmals kräftigere Wandstärken der einzelnen Tasten getestet, die das Abreißen der Tastenköpfe nach starkem Gebrauch verhindern sollen.

Außerdem testet Uruguay Laptops für ältere Schüler, die eine „normale“ Tastatur statt der Gummimatte haben, aber auf Grund der separaten Plastikköpfe dann nicht so beständig gegen Wasser und Staub sind.
