[OLPC-Chicago] 8.2 Problems - Response to My Previous Message

George,

Try looking here for an alternate way of loading activities:

http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Bert%27s_script

Another suggestion I'd make, is rather than trying to download
everything at once, when the updater gives you a list of activities to
install, start by loading just a few critical ones, like Terminal,
Browse, and Log Viewer. Maybe everything at once is choking you.

I haven't had any trouble with loading and 8.2, but the last clean
install I did was a few builds back, since then, I've done incrementals.
Maybe there's an issue in trying to get some of the new added,
content-fat ones.

As far as downloading bundles to your Mac to transfer to the XO, right
or control click the bundle, and when you get the popup, select 'Save
Link As...'. This downloads without opening.

The results were the same - Starting to download ... but no discernible activity after 2 hours. I tried downloading only a few Activities, the Terminal, Browser, and Log, but the results were the same.

I was going to try the USB boot, but when I go to the site to download the files I get Hex-ASCII garbage on the screen and it clobbers either Firefox or Safari (I'm on a Mac). Did the writer assume I would be in Linux to download those files? or WIndoze?
