[OLPC-Chicago] Illinois House Bill 5000 - The CLCLA

Hi,

Thanks for asking about whether it would help if people outside of Illinois contacted our senators. Contacting Illinois senators is really only effective when done by people who live in the district represented by a specific senator. I would be concerned that people outside of Illinois contacting the senators to push for the bill could have an adverse effect (but that's just my opinion - if anyone on the list is more experienced in Illinois state politics perhaps you could give better advice).

Any advice that anyone can give us regarding what has worked in other deployments, what hasn't worked, and what resistance to expect along the way will be EXTREMELY helpful. I can't speak for the whole OLPC-Chicago group, but I personally welcome all the ideas and advice that is passed along that will support our efforts to get the bill passed - and also to work toward creating effective pilots in as many of the 300 schools as possible once the money is available!
