1. Peer to Peer Disaster Network - Santa Barbard, California
   http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=97975

   Project Objectives:
Our goal is to enable people with XO laptops, and those around them, to
communicate with search and rescue personnel, aid organizations, and each
other in the event of a disaster. We want to develop a delay-tolerant peer
to peer application utilizing the mesh networking functionality of XOs, so
messages can be forwarded from one machine to another, hopefully reaching
the recipient or an XO connected to the Internet. Messages that reach the
Internet can be displayed on a map, a model successfully used in Haiti by
   Ushahidi.

2. Geo Learning: XO for Learning & Creating Community - Maragoli, Kenya

Use the XO to improve and introduce ICT literacy among the pupils
   and teachers.

   http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=101021
   http://seoosu.weebly.com/our-blog.html
SPECIFIC SITE NEEDS TO BE POSTED OFF http://olpcMAP.net & http://j.mp/6UhCtd

Requests 10 XOs over 12 months

   Project Objectives:
The objective of this project is to work with The Haiti Empowerment
Project to provide teachers and students the best possible resources and
tools to yield a more interactive, engaging, and rewarding educational
experience. This project is being implemented in a community outside of
   Croix-des-Bouquet, Haiti.
We plan to install ten XO laptops in a computer lab that will be used by
two local primary schools. The Haiti Empowerment Project will then work
with the teachers and students over the next year to develop the
necessary skills and lessons to successfully integrate XO's into the
   classroom.

5. XO for All and Green: Desiging Flexible & Sustainable XO apps - Sao
Carlos, SP, Brazil
   http://rt.laptop.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=101047
SPECIFIC SITE NEEDS TO BE POSTED OFF http://olpcMAP.net & http://j.mp/6UhCtd

Requests 2/12 XOs over 24 months

   Project Objectives:
This project aims to investigate and develop a software application for the
XO laptop considering adaptable and adaptive resources in the user
interface. Using flexible user interface, it is expected that the software
addresses the different users' needs and preferences while interacting with
the XO laptop. The differences among users include disabilities (e.g.
deafness and blindness), ages, and interaction experiences. Moreover, the
application will focus on promoting sustainable behavior in communities.
The sustainable behavior would reach the school community, involving
children, teachers, as well as the students’ family, since it is expected
that children will also use XO laptops at home along with their family.

We defined that the software application will be a game which will have
adaptable and adaptive software resources to reach the different
interaction requirements and reconcile economic, social and ecological
interests, which are requirements for sustainable computing in communities
[Mocigemba, 2006]. The same game should be used by children with and
without disabilities and also by their family and teachers, considering
appropriated concepts to their ages and interaction abilities. These
requirements will be elicited using a Participatory Design approach
[Schüler and Namioka, 1993] and methods from Organizational Semiotics
[Stamper et al., 1988; Liu, 2000]. The proponents have experience in using
   these combined approaches...
