Hello
everybody,
I and a
group of volunteers are creating an wireless network to interconnect the schools
in our city, we are at this moment in a testing period trying to figure out witch
technology to use (Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, Motorola canopy…) but one important
goal of this project is to be compatible with the OLPC laptops.
In the
laptop.org Wiki I have founded this http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Wireless
saying: “There is new firmware with mesh routing support” and that the chip Marvell
88W8388 is compatible with the 802.11b/g great! But my question is: The mesh
feature needs some different equipment to support it? I mean in the radio-base section
is it necessary to have some different thing than a 802.11b/g radio?
When will
the Laptops be available to test the wireless network features? I really would like
to make some tests with it in my area. I do not intend to keep it with me for
too much time, I just need to test it so I would put 2 or three of it working
and after the tests would deliver it back to anyone who needs to test it too.
Greetins
from Brazil
Sorry for
my poor English
Thank you
all
