Pootle itself can run without backed repository. I think this would
be problem about not Pootle but managing your artifacts.
If run Pootle publicly, any user can edit translations anytime.
Unfortunately in current version of Pootle it is difficult to track
what have been changed by whom and when . This should not be problem
if Pootle users are like small group of developers in house and well
coordinated. But what if we run project open to anyone...
By checkpointing to repository tracking and managing artifact would be
much easier. I believe so at least for me...
