Here in Japan several users are using SCIM for Japanese input on
XO. It can be installed via normal yum install.
Volunteers contributed step by step tutorial on XO Japanization

and it explains about installation and configuration of SCIM.
It seems that current SCIM packages use perl for installation and
result bigger footprint, that need improvement for wider deployment
for XO. And we might want to distribute pre-configured .xsession
along with SCIM and fonts in some package like "language customization
pack".
