On my DualCore in i386 mode, compcache freezes the machine shortly
after compcache swap usage goes over 30MB. On virtual machines
compcache appears to be rock solid. This does not appear to be related
to the amount of memory in the VM, as I have tested it with memory
sizes from 192MB to 600MB
Whether harddisk cache is used or not makes no difference (provided
the compcache swap has a higher priority). As shown below, the crash
does not appear to be SMP related.
*Works*
Hardy in QEMU
Hardy in QEMU "-smp 2"
Hardy in VirtualBox
Gutsy in VirtualBox
*fails*
Gutsy on DualCore
Gutsy on DualCore (second cpu offline)
I do not have any conclusive test data on ia_64 yet.
