Sometimes I feel this group has turned into more of a critic than a support group.

Acceptable: I would think anything that respects the cost point and values: (early adoption, child ownership, saturation, open source and connectedness) should be acceptable.

OLPC does not ship under 10,000 laptops for it is not a business organization. I have heard Prof Negroponte say that he wakes up every morning if what he is doing can be done by the market. If the answer is yes then he does not want to do it.

So whatever helps keep the price close to least cost of production should be fine in principle and it can only be given to those who follow the principle.

OLPC elected to not supply 30,000 laptops to a state that wanted one for 5 children each and another that wanted 1 for 4 children each. This despite the fact that the numbers of children using it in India are yet to cross five figures.

Hope we have more positive discussions on this forum with a view to reach a larger number of children sooner than later.
