[OLPC India] A mashup for community collaboration

Dear All,

In various forums, OLPC or not, a need has been felt and expressed for
the OLPC community to be able to come together on wikis, forums etc. As
one possible solution, some friends and I are creating a mashup [link:-
http://www.classgrid.com/laptop ], using google's maps and feeds for
those interested in just getting the laptops, and knowing others in
their neighborhood.

With this, one should be able to place a marker on the map displaying
their physical location, contact information etc. for others near them
to be able to contact them.

I am looking for two things from the list.

   1. feedback on the feature set.
         1. Would you like something else to exist on the website.
         2. Please do let me know what more could you need.
   2. The XO child icons, the images at various zoom levels (home,
      friends, neighbourhood), and the laptop images in orange and green.
         1. We would like to place the XO images as markers on the map
            for those who have expressed interest.
         2. Unfortunately, my current virtualbox setup is messed up
            since upgrade to ubuntu 7.10. So, can not boot up and take
            screenshots to get the images.
         3. So, if you have any of these handy, it would be great if you
            could pass them to me.



The system in a sandbox form is currently deployed on
http://www.classgrid.com/laptop . Since it is a sandbox, feel free to
add as many fictional entries to the database as you like. And you can
use your google / gmail account to sign into the system to add and edit
the entries.


Would really appreciate your feedback and inputs.
